This British Standard describes the numbering system, and the assignment and registration procedures to be used to obtain issuer identifiers for identification cards designed primarily for use in the UK. The numbering system and the procedures are applicable to all identification cards, including financial transaction cards, and tokens that identify the card issuer and card holder.
