This standard describes a method for the detectionof substances corrosive to copper in lubricatinggreases under static conditions. It does not correlatewith greases operating under dynamic conditions.

NOTE 1 - As lubricating greases are employed under adiversity of conditions, it is not possible to specify eitherthe temperature or the duration of the test, but it isrecommended that the temperature be not higher than 20 °C below the drop point of the sample.

NOTE 2 - In conformity with prevailing practice copperstrip has been described as the test metal but othermetals may be used and forms other than strips may beused.
