DESCRIPTION

BS 2782-11:Method 1108A:1989

This standard BS 2782-11:Method 1108A:1989 Methods of testing plastics. Thermoplastics pipes, fittings and valves is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 23.040.20 Plastics pipes

This British Standard describes a method for determining the resistance of plastics pipes to external blows by a falling striker.

It is suitable for application to isolated batches of pipes, to obtain an estimate of the true impact rate (TIR) of the batch, for production quality control or acceptance purposes. In particular this method determines TIR boundaries at the 10 % level when tests are conducted at 20 °C.

NOTE The titles of the publications referred to in this method are listed on the inside back cover.

Test pieces are subjected to one or more blows from a falling striker of specified mass and the results analysed for the incidence of failure for the corresponding batch of pipes. Primarily for cross-reference by specifications for pipes for non-pressure applications (previously in appendices thereto).
