DESCRIPTION

BS 6582:2000

This standard BS 6582:2000 Continuously hot-dip lead alloy (terne) coated cold reduced carbon steel flat rolled products is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 77.140.50 Flat steel products and semi-products

This British Standard specifies requirements for continuously hot-dip lead alloy (terne) coated cold reduced low carbon steel flat products in drawing and forming grades.

This standard applies to flat products from over 0.4 mm up to and including 2.0 mm thick and widths up to 1 350 mm, in strip and sheet. It applies to products with terne coatings having a nominal mass of 120 g/m2 and to commercial grade terne coating (CGT) having no specified coating mass but meeting the other requirements of this standard.

NOTE The products in this standard can be used for applications where suitability for soldering and cold forming are required and corrosion resistance is a principal factor. The coating mass specified and the thickness of the base material should be compatible with the desired service life and forming requirements.
