DESCRIPTION

BS 7202:1989

This standard BS 7202:1989 Specification for non-incendive low voltage control/interlock and low voltage earth fault monitoring circuits for use in mines is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 29.260.20 Electrical apparatus for explosive atmospheres

This British Standard specifies requirements to prevent incendive sparking in low voltage circuits used typically in motor starter units in mines, such as those complying with BS 5126, for the following:

  1. control and interlocking purposes in association with a flexible cable fitted with restrained type plugs;
  2. detecting earth faults in the outgoing cable and connected load when the outgoing power circuits are de-energized.

NOTE 1. Operational aspects of control circuits are specified in BS 3101 and earth fault monitoring circuits in BS 5126.

NOTE 2. The titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover.
