DESCRIPTION

PD 6507:1982

This standard PD 6507:1982 Guidance on metric screw threads and fasteners for use by model engineers is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 21.040.10 Metric screw threads
  • 21.060.01 Fasteners in general

This Published Document establishes a range of metric screw threads for fasteners of thread diameter 0.8 mm to 5.0 mm inclusive and a range of metric attachment threads for fittings and mountings of thread diameter 3.0 mm to 20.0 mm inclusive that are suitable for model engineering application. Dimensions of metric fasteners are also given.

In order to enable fine scale to be reproduced where imperial sizes of hexagon fasteners were used in the prototype, sizes of hexagon heads of fasteners and hexagon nuts have been carefully chosen; the scaling of metric sizes presents no difficulty, as metric hexagons can be chosen from standard ranges.

The scale metric model engineering threads equivalent to full-size imperial threads are given in table 7.

The dimensions given in this document are those at the maximum metal condition.

NOTE. The titles of the publications referred to in this Published Document are listed on the inside back cover.

Establishes a range of metric screw threads and fasteners and a range of metric attachment threads for fittings and mountings suitable for application in model engineering which, whilst of scale appearance, ensure adequate strength of threaded fasteners and attachments.
