IATF approved changes to the Rules for Achieving and Maintaining IATF Recognition (known as “IATF Rules”) on 4 December 2023.

These changes will be published as the “Rules for achieving and maintaining IATF recognition”, 6th Edition. Certified organizations are encouraged to purchase a copy of the IATF Rules 6th Edition. There are changes to requirements in the IATF Rules 6th Edition which impact organizations certified to IATF 16949.

IATF Global Oversight is allowing a maximum of nine (9) months (starting from 31 March 2024) to implement changes required in IATF Rules 6th Edition for both the IATF-recognized certification bodies and clients. IATF Rules 6th Edition is effective and shall be fully implemented by 1 January 2025.

As of 1 January 2025, IATF Rules 5th Edition and all IATF Rules 5th Edition Sanctioned Interpretations and Frequently Asked Questions becomes obsolete.
